TIMOTHY ORIEDO – BIG DATA SCIENTIST
Q&A With Data Scientist, Timothy Oriedo
Timothy Oriedo is a Certified Executive and Business Coach holding two coaching certifications from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and World Association of Business Coaching (WABC). He is an Adjunct Executive Coach with the Strathmore Business School where he coaches various programs including Owner Manager Program (OMP), Senior Manager Leadership Program (SMLP), and Masters Programs. He also has designed a tool for Digital and Data Career switch program and runs a group coaching program under his Data Lab outfit he co-founded 2 years ago. As of May 2021, his client coaching log is at 1200 Hours with clients spanning various corporates including Banking, Telco, NGOs, Retail, Government, and SMEs.
Besides coaching, he is a Data Scientist certified by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2016, making him the 1st Kenyan to get Certified by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Data Scientist with competencies in Data Strategy, Digital Transformation, and Data Value Business Generator. He holds an undergraduate Degree in Mathematics and Psychology from Maseno University and a Masters in Organizational Leadership and currently pursuing PhD Studies in Corporate Governance. He is a Certified Chartered Marketer holding two Post Graduate Diplomas in Marketing from CIM UK and Public Relations from ICM – UK. He was certified in the year 2009 becoming the 28th and youngest Chartered Marketer in Kenya.
He also Lecturers at United States International University (USIU) Postgraduate level on Digital Strategy and Effective Website Design Strategy and Data Analytics for Healthcare System Management. He is an Executive Trainer on Business Intelligence and Data Analytics and a consultant trainer for the Institute Of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Kenya Association Of Manufacturers (KAM), ABMC International, and Chartered Institute of Marketing.
An Author of a Book on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. He is a subject matter expert and influencer, seasoned Keynote speaker, delivered dozens of addresses on Blockchain and Big Data to several communities including Corporate Leaders, Government, Actuaries, CIOs, Marketers, Investment Fund Managers, Human Resource, Insurance Medical Practitioners, and Media. He is also a contributing columnist to various publications in the region including the Business Daily, Daily Nation, and CIO.
He has over 15 years in the Financial, Media, and Marketing industry and has worked as Nation Media’s Group General Manager, Broadcast Division, and Royal Media Group Head of Digital. He sits on the CIO East Africa Advisory Board and is also an advisory board member of the College of Chartered Accountants COCA a leading South African Financial Certification training provider and Executive Business School.
He recently founded the Fourth Industrial Revolution Club an initiative that helps corporates and individuals recalibrate their orientation towards facing the technology disruptions occasioned by the shift to the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Last but not least, Timothy is the Founding Chairman of the Data Professional Association of Kenya a body registered by the Kenya Registrar of Societies R53358.
