Content Strategy for Paid Advertising: What We Learned in the Room
“Focus on benefits, not the features, because that is what the normal person will look for.”
That single line from Reema Doshi-Lewis captured the core problem most underperforming ads share: they talk about the product instead of the person. On July 24th, 2026, at SNDBX International in Kilimani, Reema (CEO & Founder) and Melanie Hapisu (CEO of DigiPath Africa) walked a room of marketers through a practical content strategy built for paid advertising that actually stops the scroll and converts.
Here are the frameworks you can use immediately.
Front end: the creative that earns the click
Every strong ad needs four elements:
- A scroll-stopping hook
- Strong visuals
- A clear value proposition (what’s in it for the viewer)
- A clear call-to-action
Before you publish anything, run this five-question test:
- Does it speak to a specific audience?
- Would this actually stop someone from scrolling?
- Can someone understand the message in under three seconds?
- Does it highlight a benefit rather than just describe the product?
- Is the next step obvious?
A “no” to any of these means the creative still needs work. Objectives, goals, and audience are decided before the creative is made. The creative’s job is simply to deliver them clearly.

Then she gave the room a five-question test to run before publishing anything:

Back end: The setup that decides whether a good ad performs
Melanie focused on the three levers that sit behind every campaign:
- Aligning your ad objectives with how Meta’s algorithm actually works
- Targeting the right audience (and fixing the two most common mistakes)
- Setting a budget and campaign duration the right way
She closed with the question every paid advertiser eventually asks: “Why do good ads still fail?” Two real scenarios and the practical fixes for each one gave the room a clear diagnostic process.
The workshop gave you the fundamentals: a front end built on four elements and a five-question test, and a back end built on three principles. But fundamentals only help if you can apply them consistently. The next step is building a content system, and that is exactly what our recent webinar (Content Planning for Lean Marketing Teams with Reema Doshi & Weslene Orwoba) covered.
The Attendees got to walk away with a clear system to;
✅ Generate content ideas that actually support business goals
✅ Build a repeatable process so content doesn’t start from zero every week
✅ Stay consistently visible without burning out or relying on last-minute inspiration
Don’t start next week’s content from scratch. Get the system and put it to work.
